The Symposium will be held from 9am to 5:30pm on October 12, 2002 (Saturday) in Lecture Theatres 3 & 4 in the Faculty of Medicine Building, 21 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam. The theme for this year is “The Culture, Progress and Modernization of Chinese Medicine” and the officiating guest invited is Dr CH Leong, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hospital Authority. Invited speakers include Professor Yan Shi-yun, President, Shanghai University of TCM, Professor Cheung Tai-chiu, Chairman, Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board, Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, Professor Chan Ke-ji, Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of TCM, Professor Cheng Yung-chi, Henry Bronson Professor of Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology, Yale University, Professor Deng Tie-tao, Life Professor, Guangzhou University of TCM, Professor Shi Qi, Vice-President, China Association of TCM & President, China Association of TCM of Traumatology and Orhopedics, Professor Fritz. With the generous donations from the Pong Ding Yuen's family, the Pong Ding Yuen Endowment Fund for Education and Research in Chinese-Western Medicine was established in the University of Hong Kong in 2000. This “Pong Ding Yuen International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine” is one of the annual events for Chinese Medicine experts to share their experience with people in Hong Kong. Two “Pong Ding Yuen Prizes in Chinese Medicine” will also be awarded to academically outstanding students of Bachelor of Chinese Medicine programme in The University of Hong Kong.

The University of Hong Kong, the School of Chinese Medicine is to hold “The 2nd Pong Ding Yuen International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine” officiated by Dr CH Leong, GBS, JP, this Saturday (October 12, 2002).
