Environment protection – and public consciousness of it – are growing in importance. The environment is important not only in local but also in international terms. Is the law, and the means of enforcing it, keeping pace with developments? Is it equipped to face tomorrow's challenges? What controls exist, what mechanisms are there to enforce them, how are they enforced in practice and are those mechanisms and the regulatory authorities that apply them up to the task? What improvements should be considered? This seminar seeks to address these and related questions by comparing experiences in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and encouraging debate among all interested parties. This will be the first seminar to be held in Hong Kong to address contemporary issues of environmental law and policy.
Members of the press are cordially invited to attend the seminar. For media enquiries, please contact Miss Priscilla Wong of HKU's Faculty of Law at 2859 2952 or email rwmwai@hku.hk.
