The Summer Science Institute provides hands-on learning experience for upper-form school students through a variety of integrated science topics and interaction with University teachers and students.
Through plenary lectures, hands-on science workshops, specialist demonstrations and scientific projects, students can learn about everyday science in an interactive and creative way. In addition to enhancing students' scientific knowledge, the programme also provides students with an early experience of university life through recreational activities and accommodation at HKU's residential hall.
An opening ceremony will be held on July 27, 2004 at which Professor C F Lee, Acting Vice-Chancellor of HKU; Mrs Fanny Law, GBS, JP, Permanent Secretary for Education and Manpower; and Dr L S Chan, Acting Dean of HKU's Faculty of Science, will be the officiating guests. Details of the opening ceremony are as follows:

HKU's Faculty of Science to Organise Summer Programme for Secondary School Students

The Faculty of Science of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) will organise the Summer Science Institute from July 27 to 31, 2004 for 186 Form 4 to Form 6 students coming from both local and overseas secondary schools.
