Mr Shi Guangsheng, Member of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress(NPC), Vice Chairman of Financial & Economic Committee of NPC, Chairman of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment(CAEFI), former Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation will be the keynote speaker of the conference.
The conference aims to review the development of China's foreign trade regime since its accession to the WTO in 2001, and the problems the country faces in implementing its WTO commitments. Proposals are expected on how China could participate in the WTO more effectively in the future.
More than 30 senior officials will speak at the conference, including senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO, and the WTO Secretariat. Leading WTO academics from around the world and WTO experts from multinationals and professionals services will also participate.

The East Asian International Economic Law and Policy Programme of the Faculty of Law of The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Faculty of Law is hosting a conference titled "China's participation in the WTO" on 21st and 22nd February 2005 at the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong.
