Established jointly by HKU's Faculty of Law and the Department of Computer Science, the Centre has been commissioned by the Government to develop, host and maintain the website known as the Community Legal Information Centre (CLIC)as an adjunct to the Hong Kong Legal Information Institute (HKLII). The aim is to enable members of the public to have a preliminary understanding of the legal position of a certain matter before going to a lawyer for legal advice.
Topics now covered by the website include Bankruptcy & Winding Up, Employment Disputes, Landlord & Tenant, Matrimonial Matters, Hong Kong Legal System and Legal Aid. Other topics such as Police & Crime, Consumer Complaints, Sale and Purchase of Property etc, will be covered at a later stage.
Members of the public can also check out for information on where to seek free legal assistance, and how to get a lawyer from the CLIC Website.
Mr. Bob Allcock, Solicitor General of the HKSAR Government and Professor Paul Tam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of HKU will officiate at the ceremony, while Deans of the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Law, Professor T. S. Ng and Professor Johannes Chan SC, will address the audience. Guests including judges, heads of various government departments and other related organizations, Legislative Councillors and District Councillors will also attend.

The China Information Technology & Law Centre (Centre) of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) is to launch a bilingual legal information website at a ceremony which will be held this Friday.
