It is time to review and plan ahead our personal investment strategy as we approach the Year of the Pig, this can be the best done by PORTimizer, a powerful portfolio optimization toolkit for financial portfolio management and investment analysis that is jointly developed by The University of Hong Kong's Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and VERSITECH Ltd.
Based on factors such as personal expected return, acceptable risk level, transaction costs involved and preference on regional investment allocation, PORTimizer will come up with the most appropriate investment portfolio proposal or a re-balanced investment portfolio proposal that suits your investment goals. What's more, the system can generate investment suggestions that perform better than a particular investment index of your choice e.g. Hang Seng Index.
HKU's PORTimizer includes advanced data management, robust portfolio optimization, self-explanatory performance charts, a versatile customization framework for effective manipulation of assets and optimization of portfolios, as well as index tracking and performance evaluation of assets and portfolios. It was well recognized by Microsoft and was deployed in the first Microsoft High Performance Computing Cluster in Hong Kong.
The software was first developed as a teaching tool by the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science with funding support from HKU's Teaching Development Grant, which is then jointly developed with and commercialized by VERSITECH Ltd. VERSTITECH Ltd is the technology transfer and commercialization arm of The University of Hong Kong. It was established by the University in 1997 and is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of top University management and prominent business people, to promote research, teaching and technology transfer.
