HKU COVID Relief Fund will support #TeachforGood, an initiative conducted by HKU graduating students to benefit 3,000 needy students of Secondary 4 and 5 from grassroots families. The HKU students will receive work allowance.
“We believe in equal learning opportunities for all. The months-long school suspension has exposed and magnified, like never before, the digital gap for students from grassroots families,” said Professor Nancy Law, HKU Faculty of Education. Via a specially designed series of online and offline classes, HKU graduating students will empower 3,000 needy students of Secondary 4 and 5 who are preparing for public examinations but are adversely impacted by COVID-19. The first phase will run from mid-June till September.
President Xiang Zhang, the Provost, and the four Vice-Presidents have taken the lead by donating 10% of their salaries for 12 months to initiate the HKU COVID Relief Fund.
The University encourages its members, alumni and friends to support the “HKU COVID Relief Fund” and help bridge the digital gap and make learning opportunities accessible to all students.
