Japanese Traditional Inns and their Great Female Managers
22 Apr 2008
Okami-san are female managers of Ryokan - Japanese traditional inn managers. On April 24, seven Okami-san will visit The University of Hong Kong (HKU) campus to teach us what to do and what not to do when staying at a Ryokan.
They will provide travel tips, and share with us many other aspects of their culture, through tea-serving, dancing, songs, and games involving traditional Japanese toys. They will also demonstrate the proper way to wear a kimono - the traditional Japanese costume.
This event is part of Japan Month at HKU 2008 and is jointly organised by the Department of Japanese Studies of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, the Office of International Student Exchange and the Japanese Society of the HKU Students' Union. The Okami-san are in Hong Kong courtesy of Japan Airlines.
