13 Apr 2010
To celebrate the launch of Japan Month at HKU 2010, the School of Modern Languages and Cultures' Department of Japanese Studies and the Japanese Society A.A.H.K.U.S.U. are hosting a Japanese Food Workshop featuring Shinichi ANDO (安東伸一), chef to the Consul-General of Japan and one of the most skilled practitioners of Japanese cuisine in Hong Kong.
Students participating in the workshop will have an opportunity to make their own sushi hand rolls under the guidance of Chef ANDO, and to taste authentic Japanese dishes, including tempura, miso soup with pork and vegetables, and "oden" casserole.
The Japanese Food Workshop will be followed by a kimono dress-up session (for men and women). Eight okami-san - or female managers of traditional Japanese Inns (ryokans) - will be on hand to demonstrate the proper way to wear a kimono.
