"Structural Engineering Competition for the Youth - Paper Tower Challenge" to be held at HKU

The Structural Engineering Competition for the Youth - Paper Tower Challenge will be held at the University of Hong Kong on Saturday (July 18).
Form 4 and Form 5 students from 26 secondary schools will take part in the competition which aims to develop students’ team spirit, logical thinking and engineering concepts through building up the paper tower.
Each team, consists of four students, will be given two rolls of adhesive tape and 200 pieces of A4 recycle papers to build a paper tower of 1.5 to 1.7 meters in height. The work will be subjected to a loading test, and assessed according to criteria including aesthetic and innovation.
The competition is jointly organised by the Joint Structural Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, and the Business-School Partnership Programme of the Education Bureau. In addition, the competition is supported by the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Hong Kong.

Time: 9am to 5pm (2:30pm to 4:30pm (assessment by the judging panel))
