HKU reports to the police a fraudulent conference and scam case

It has come to the notice of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) that suspicious emails are being sent to invite registrations for the “2017 International Conference on Economics, Statistics, Management Science (ESMS2017)” claiming a professor of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, Faculty of Science, as one of the General Chairs of the organising committee. The University has reasons to suspect that the aforesaid conference is a fraud.

The case has been reported to the police. The University urges anyone affected by the incident to seek police assistance where needed.
