This will be the exhibition's final stop in a five-city tour of China sponsored by the David Lam Centre for International Communication at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, Canada) and the Canadian government. Previous stops have included the National Art Museum of China in Beijing, the Shanghai Art Museum, the Guangzhou Museum and Art Gallery, the Ling Nan Club Exhibition Hall (Guangzhou), and the Dongguan Municipal Museum.
This exhibition presents several dozen new works based on the concept of "Inheriting the old, creating the new, mastering Western while consolidating Eastern traditions." The works are meant to foster exchanges between Canada and China, promote cross-cultural fusion, and provide an example to students who aspire to practice fine arts.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Museum on January 19 at 6pm where Mr Grerry Campbell, Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong, and Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, HKU's Vice-Chancellor, will officiate at the ceremony. A press preview of the exhibition will be arranged from 5:00pm on that day. Mr Yukman Lai will introduce the exhibits.
Members of the Press are cordially invited to attend the press preview and the opening ceremony.
