Intellectual Exchange + First Hand Practical Experience = Path to Success
Outstanding academic achievements cannot guarantee a job offer upon graduation from the University. Work attitude, self-learning ability, analytical reasoning and interpersonal skills are the important qualities most employers will look for.
Social Innovation Internship (SI2) being offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong has attracted more than 300 Social Sciences students undertaking workplace internship in over 100 local and international community partners since summer, 2004. This unique, well-structured, non-discipline specific and innovative internship provides not only a platform for intellectual exchange amongst students, but also the opportunities for students to gain first hand practical experience. Through their involvement in work / projects which require the integration of multidisciplinary skills and knowledge, students are exposed to diversified community-based organisations to address societal issues under real life working environment.
This is a special occasion for the Faculty students and community partners to share their experience and success of their hard work. Oral and poster presentations outlining samples of fruitful achievements and reflections will be delivered by students, including those participated in programmes hosted at ORBIS, Hong Kong Red Cross, HSBC, etc. Representatives from community partners will also conduct an interactive on-stage dialogue.
