Naming Ceremony of the New Building under HKU's Institute of Human Performance to honour the late Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung

The Institute of Human Performance (IHP) building located at Sandy Bay, recently completed and opened last year, was named in memory of the late Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung, in recognition of his support of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and his contributions to sports development, at a naming ceremony held today (January 22). A commemorative plaque to mark this special occasion was unveiled.
Officiating at the ceremony were Dr York Chow Yat-ngok, Secretary for Food and Health, Mr Ian Fok Chun-wan, Managing Director, Fok Ying Tung Foundation Ltd, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, HKU's Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Bruce Abernethy, Director, HKU's Institute of Human Performance.
Speaking at the naming ceremony of the Henry Fok Health and Fitness Complex, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui paid tribute to Dr Fok. "We are here to honour the late Dr Henry Fok Ying Tung, a generous philanthropist and benefactor. Generations have benefited from his many contributions to Hong Kong and Greater China."
"He will always be held in high esteem by The University of Hong Kong and remembered for his many contributions to this University," he added.
Housing a Fitness Centre, an Active Health Clinic, facilities for sports science and research, and a multi-purpose activity area, the new building under the IHP provides a pleasant and stimulating environment that encourages physical activity and research in an atmosphere of innovation, inspiration and community, reflecting a modern world-class university.
