Resolution of Labour & Employment Disputes Conference ─ Workplace Fairness Disputes in a Global Community: Hong Kong and PRC Perspectives

The Faculty of Law of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is pleased to announce that the Conference "Workplace Fairness Disputes in a Global Community: Hong Kong and PRC Perspectives" will be held on 30 May 2008. The Conference is organized by HKU LL.M. Degree in Arbitration & Dispute Resolution, Centre for Comparative and Public Law, and Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
This conference will focus on resolution of labour and employment disputes in Hong Kong and China through a discussion of:-
(i) international legal and domestic standards for workplace fairness in the labour and employment law context;
(ii) practical issues that affect workplace fairness in Hong Kong and the PRC;
(iii) legal and practical impact of new developments in labour and employment law legislation in China;
(iv) enhancing labour and employment standards through the use of conciliation, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution processes ; and
(v) development within business and commercial enterprises of internal alternative dispute resolution systems for resolving labour and employment disputes.
During the Conference, four panel discussions will be held involving representatives from many stakeholders in the labour and employment process in Hong Kong and the PRC. Panel speakers include; local and regional expects in labour and employment law; senior management from employers and management personnel, employee associations and unions, international organizations and interested non-governmental and social organizations.
