Response to Professor Johannes Chan being denied entry into Macau

In response to the case of Professor Johannes Chan, the Dean of Law, being denied entry into Macau for an academic conference, the University of Hong Kong has responded through its spokesperson to press enquiries, since March 3, when the news emerged, with the following statement:
As a matter of long-held principle, the University regards academic freedom to be of paramount importance, and that it should be placed above politics. The University advocates that all academic activities should be safeguarded."
