Anemometer Design Competition award presentation ceremony

An award presentation ceremony of the Anemometer Design Competition will be held on Saturday (July 4). Officiating will be the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Dr Lee Boon-ying and the Dean of Engineering, the University of Hong Kong, Professor Chew Weng-cho.
The competition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Observatory and Faculty of Engineering, The University of Hong Kong to promote students' interest in meteorological instrumentation and information technology. Each participating team was required to design and fabricate an anemometer to measure wind direction and speed. More than 100 teachers and students from 18 primary and secondary schools took part in the competition and 22 entries were received.
At the ceremony, the results of competition will be announced and prizes will be presented to the winning teams. Champions of the junior and senior categories will demonstrate their anemometers and share their experiences. All the 22 entries and a wind tunnel, which was made by the Observatory for testing the anemometers, will be displayed at the venue.
