HKU Council Chairman condemns taping and unauthorized release of Council meeting discussions
28 Oct 2015
"I am deeply shocked by the disclosure of an audio clip carrying confidential content recorded at a University Council closed-door meeting. The audio record had been taken and was made public in the media today without the authorization of the Council. As Chairman of the Council, I deplore such a disgraceful act by any party involved, which amounts to a serious violation of the code of confidentiality of Council members and a serious infringement of the privacy of the individuals. Any party who committed the act should be held accountable.
The University will make all possible efforts to investigate the matter and will report the case to the police. We are seeking legal advice on possible further actions."
