The HKU Faculty of Science responds to the media on closing of two majors
10 May 2017
“Yesterday (May 9) the Faculty Board of HKU Faculty of Science deliberated the closing of the two majors and decided with a majority vote to do so with effect from 2018/19 intake. Following the decision, neither the Physics nor the Mathematics major will be affected. Students interested in the two areas can do this double major or take them in a major/ minor combination. Students can choose Astronomy as a minor or take Astronomy courses as electives as part of a Physics major. For those who have intense interest in the area and aspire to pursue astronomy research in the future, they can still join the team of our renowned professors and conduct research under their guidance during their postgraduate studies."
