I am very honoured to have been the Chairman of the Council of the University of Hong Kong for the past six years.
During this period, the international ranking of our University has continued to rise. 75% of our research output has been recognised independently by the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) to be world-leading or internationally excellent. The expansion of our University both locally (with close to 20 new buildings) and the development of the new campus in Shenzhen are exciting.
I specially want to thank our many benefactors and supporters for their generous contributions and pledges so that we have received a record amount of donations during these past years.
We have instilled discipline and moral standards within our University community.
I see a great future for this University in the coming decade.
