Professor Paulraj has been a Professor at Stanford University since 1993, where he supervises the Smart Antennas Research Group working on applications of space-time signal processing for wireless communications networks. His research group has developed many key fundamentals of this new field and shaped a worldwide research and development focus onto this technology.
In 1998, he founded Iospan Wireless Inc. and is the Chairman of the Board. Professor Paulraj sits on several other companies and advisory boards for US and Indian companies/venture partnerships.
Professor Paulraj is a well-known expert in emphasizing estimation theory, sensor signal processing, parallel computer architectures/algorithms and space-time wireless communications. His engineering experience included development of sonar systems, massively parallel computers, and more recently broadband wireless systems.
Professor Paulraj has won several awards for his engineering and research contributions. He is the author of over 250 research papers and holds several patents. He is a Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
In this lecture, Professor Paulraj will review emerging market, industry and technology trends in mobile wireless networks for voice/data and survey the key enabling technologies. The main focus of the talk will be on smart antennas including MIMO methods for improving quality, data rates, capacity and coverage of broadband wireless systems. Current research and development activities and future frontiers for smart antenna techniques will be summarized.
Members of the Press and interested party are cordially invited to attend.
